Report: Spurs eyeing swap deal to bring Bale back to North London – Involves Dele Alli

The Telegraph believe that Tottenham Hotspur could allow Dele Alli to join Real Madrid this transfer window in a deal to secure Gareth Bale’s return to North London.

Multiple sources over the last few hours (Alasdair Gold and David Ornstein) have revealed that Tottenham have made progress in their efforts to sign Bale.

According to The Telegraph, Daniel Levy is working on different ways to bring the 31-year-old back to Spurs and one of the options on the table is a possible swap deal involving Alli.

It was said that while Los Blancos are ready to pay 50 per cent of Bale’s wages to loan him out to Spurs, the Lilywhites could potentially bring the winger’s wages down to just £150,000-a-week if they loan Alli to Madrid for a season.

Additionally, a permanent deal is also rumoured to be on the table, with Madrid potentially paying a transfer fee on top of Bale to sign the England international.

The report alleges that the La Liga champions have enquired about Alli on more than one occasion in the past, while Bale is also said to be open to the idea of returning to Spurs after seven years in Madrid.

Spurs Web Opinion

Irrespective of whether or not this would be a good deal for us, I cannot see it happening. Real Madrid are unlikely to be in a position to meet Levy’s valuation of Dele given their financial situation post COVID. I also believe Jose will give the midfielder a chance to show what he can do with a pre-season under his belt.
