Report: Spurs face battle to land long-standing transfer target from Italian giants

Tottenham Hotspur have had a long-standing interest in Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon but could now face a battle to sign him in the summer.

The Daily Express are reporting that Italian giants Juventus have entered the race to land the England Under-21 international.

Fulham have already been condemned to relegation back to the Championship and the Cottagers are said to be holding out for £40million despite the fact that the left-sided player is out of contract next summer.

Sessegnon has failed to live up to the high expectations set upon him when Fulham were promoted back to the top flight but his performances have improved in recent weeks under caretaker boss Scott Parker.

Tottenham are said to be Sessegnon’s preferred destination as it would allow him to play under Mauricio Pochettino who has a track record of getting the best out of young potential and could remain in London.

The player is not short of admirers, with Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Manchester United all keeping tabs along with Borussia Dortmund who are waiting to see if he will run down his contract.

If Pochettino could land Sessegnon, it would certainly add some pace to the left flank to complement Danny Rose with Ben Davies having a tendency to be more of a conservative option.
