Report: Spurs face competition for Kim Min-jae as Premier League rivals enter race

According to a report from 90 min, Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Beijing Guoan defender Kim Min-jae may have just become a little more complicated as Premier League rivals Leicester City have entered the race for the centre-back.

It seemed as if Kim was Lazio bound after reports from Italy claimed two weeks ago that the Serie A club had an offer of €13m plus €2m in bonuses for the South Korean accepted by Beijing Guoan (La Lazio Siamo Noi).

However, SPOTV News claimed last week that Kim still preferred a move to Spurs over Lazio, with the North Londoners said to be weighing up another offer after seeing their first one turned down by the Chinese Super League club.

90 min now reveal that Leicester have now entered the race for the 23-year-old, with Brendan Rodgers said to be keen on adding reinforcements at centre-back before the transfer window shuts.

Despite the Foxes’ interest, it is said that Spurs still remain the favourites to snap up Kim, with Son Heung-min reportedly pushing the North Londoners to sign his international teammate.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on reports over the last couple of weeks, it appears as if Ruben Dias and Kim Min-jae might be the two options we are looking as far as centre-back is concerned. Despite being of the same age, Dias would be the much more expensive and low-risk option of the two. Kim could potentially prove a real coup for the rumoured price but there is a massive element of risk involved since he has never played in Europe.
