Report: Spurs face competition from Arsenal for rumoured £45m target

Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from North London rivals Arsenal in the chase for RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer.

ESPN’s Gab and Juls podcast (31/12) claim that Mikel Arteta has identified the Austrian midfielder to help add some creativity to his midfield.

The Gunners have struggled to find the back of the net this season during the current campaign having scored 16 goals in 16 Premier League matches.

Sabitzer has also been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham with the club said to have identified the player as a potential replacement for Dele Alli (Evening Standard).

Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche recently revealed to Bild that the Bundesliga outfit will not open talks about a fresh contract with Sabitzer until the January transfer window is over with, should he still be at the club come February.

Krosche also refused to confirm or deny any interest from Spurs, by instead insisting there has been some interest in his skipper.

Sabitzer, who is valued at £45million has 18 months left to run on his current deal at Leipzig and earns £105,000-a-week (The Sun).
