Report: Spurs face competition from Bundesliga club for English 23-year-old

The Sun have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Wolfsburg for Norwich City’s Max Aarons in the summer.

Aarons will enter the final year of his contract at Carrow Road this June (Transfermarkt) and there are no indications at the moment that the right-back is about to sign a new deal.

The Sun state that Spurs have been ‘long-term admirers’ of the 23-year-old and have sent scouts to watch him this season.

However, it is explained that the Lilywhites are not the only club who have their eye on Aarons, with Wolfsburg allegedly sending representatives to run the rule on him during the clash against Blackburn Rovers on Good Friday.

The report asserts that the Norwich star turned down two offers from unnamed Premier League clubs on transfer deadline day in January in order to help the Canaries win promotion to the Premier League.

The Sun add that the England Under-21 international is now attracting interest from a ‘number of clubs’ from the Premier League and aboard ahead of the summer transfer window.

With Pedro Porro making a promising start to his Tottenham career with Djed Spence impressing on loan at Rennes, I do not see why Spurs would need another young right-back with very similar characteristics, in Aarons.
