Report: Spurs face competition from Juventus for defensive starlet

Joachim Anderson is the latest prodigy under the eyes of Pochettino, but we reportedly have some stern competition for the 22-year-old from Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan according to Calcio Mercato.

Sampdoria’s Anderson is a refreshing player, someone who could be described as a perfect mixture of old school and new school. The center back loves to use his raw physical power and height to get touch-tight to his opponents but also possesses excellent passing technique akin to Toby Alderweireld.

He holds excellent aerial ability and is able to win his headers, and even pitch in with a few goals and assists a season. He’s someone who could add longevity to our backline and could be a great addition to our long-term back three alongside Sanchez and Foyth. He adds something different, yet compliments the strengths of the other two young defenders.

The Denmark U21 international is reportedly worth up to 60 million euros, and according to Calcio Mercato Sampdoria’s Vice-President Antonio Romei is to engage in talks with Tottenham’s hierarchy to discuss a deal. Though, it is reported that this is his main intention of being in London was to discuss finances with a few banks.

Whilst 60 million euros is very steep, and too much for the player, Sampdoria are reportedly ready to accept a fee for around 25 million euros, a fee worth around 21 million pounds.

A fee very much affordable, and cheap for a player with current ability and potential of Joachim Anderson.

Whilst there is major competition from two top Italian clubs of Juventus and Inter Milan, the Danish youngster could see him more likely to make his senior debut for his nation, as well as playing alongside the Danish superstar, Christian Eriksen.
