Report: Spurs face competition from Juventus for prolific striker

Tottenham Hotspur face competition from Juventus in the race to sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to Calciomercato.

Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso announced in a statement released on Tuesday that Vlahovic has rejected multiple improved contract offers despite the fact that the Serie A outfit had made the forward a “significant” offer that would have made him the club’s highest-paid player in history.

The report claims that Juventus are looking to move to the front of the queue to land the 21-year-old by attempting to sign him in the January transfer window.

The Serbian striker was a target for Tottenham during the summer transfer window and was also the subject of interest from La Liga side Atletico Madrid (Sky Sports).

Vlahovic is currently under contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi until June 2023 with Fiorentina having been keen to tie down the front man to a new deal after he scored 21 goals in 37 Serie A appearances during the previous campaign (transfermarkt).

Vlahovic is going to be a wanted man in both the January transfer window and the following summer window given his desire to leave along with the fact that Fiorentina will want to maximise their financial return on the forward.

Daniel Levy will have to act quick if he does want to bring in a striker of Vlahovic’s quality, a low-ball bid with five minutes to go before the window closes is not going to cut it on this occasion.
