Report: Spurs face competition from London rivals for 21-year-old midfielder

According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are one of several English clubs that have enquired about the availability of River Plate starlet Enzo Fernandez.

Tottenham had a midfield clear-out in the summer, with Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele departing and Rodrigo Bentancur arriving on transfer deadline day at Juventus.

Antonio Conte might look to add to his midfield department in the summer and if Fichajes’ update is to be believed, Fernandez is one of the options on Spurs’ radar.

The youngster has won many admirers since breaking into River Plate’s starting eleven, having scored twice and registered five assists in 29 appearances for the Argentinean giants so far (Transfermarkt).

Fichajes suggest that Fernandez could be on his way to the Premier League in the summer, with Spurs one of the clubs said to have enquired about the player’s availability.

However, the report reveals that Conte’s men face competition from West Ham, Arsenal and Aston Villa for the 21-year-old.

In addition, it is claimed that Real Madrid also have their eye on Fernandez as Los Blancos want to ‘continue betting on young talents’ when the transfer window reopens.

It is worth remembering that Pape Sarr will also join up with the Spurs squad in the summer, although I would not be surprised if the club decided to loan him out again.

I believe Spurs would prioritise signing a number 8 like Franck Kessie instead of another number 6/4 like Fernandez, particularly given that Lo Celso and Ndombele look set to leave permanently in the summer.
