Report: Spurs face competition from Real Madrid to land striker

According to the latest report from Spain, Real Madrid will challenge Tottenham in their rumoured pursuit of young Porto forward Fabio Silva.

The 17-year-old, who has been banging the goals in at youth level, has broken into the Porto side this season and has impressed during cameos from the bench where he has bagged three goals for the first team in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Silva has represented Portugal from Under-15 level up to the Under-19 age grade, and he is considered one of the brightest young talents in Portuguese football.

The teenager, who is equally adept at playing as a number 10 or as a target man, has even been compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo by Sporting Lisbon legend Manuel Fernandes (Goal).

“When Cristiano Ronaldo was 17, he was a spearhead for Sporting’s youth. I saw him doing things like I am now seeing from a kid at FC Porto’s youth, Fábio Silva. He’s going to be a hell of a player. In a few years he will be extraordinary,” said Fernandes.

Calcio Mercato reported back in April that Spurs and Juventus were battling it out for the striker’s signature.

El Espanol now reports that Silva is one of a number of Porto’s young stars that Real Madrid have their eye on and it is suggested that the Spanish giants could snap him up in the summer.

If we have any chance of snapping Silva up, we need to do it this summer. Once he becomes a regular in the Porto first team, his value will likely skyrocket just like we saw with Joao Felix at Benfica. However, signing Silva might not send the best of messages to Troy Parrott.
