Report: Spurs face competition from rivals for Ajax star

According to a report by The Express, Chelsea are set to spend big in the January transfer window after their transfer ban was lifted by FIFA, with Hakim Ziyech said to be one of their primary targets.

90 min reported a month ago that Ziyech was Tottenham’s main target to replace Christian Eriksen in the January window.

The report claimed that Spurs were keen on selling Eriksen in January rather than losing him for nothing in the summer after the Danish international made it clear to the club that he wasn’t willing to extend his stay.

The Moroccan international enjoyed a sensational season for the Dutch giants last campaign as he helped them to a league and cup double.

He has continued his fine form this season five goals and providing eleven assists in fifteen Eredivisie appearances so far this campaign (Who Scored).

However, the report in The Express claims that Lampard has identified Ziyech as one of the targets who can help improve Chelsea’s attack and Tottenham could as a result face major competition for the 26-year-old’s signature from their London rivals.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Ziyech would be a fantastic addition to the Spurs squad but is likely to be quite expensive. However, rather than being a direct replacement for Eriksen, I feel he could thrive as a wide forward and would be extremely useful in the current 4-2-3-1 set up that Jose Mourinho seems to be employing.
