Sky Sports have implied that Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Callum Wilson and David Brooks will be anything but straightforward with a whole host of Premier League clubs pursuing deals for the Bournemouth duo.

The Sun claimed last week that Spurs viewed Wilson as the ideal backup for Harry Kane and were looking to sign the striker in a £10 million deal.

However, Sky Sports now claim that the Cherries expect close to £20m for the experienced striker this summer.

West Ham are said to be the latest club who have joined the race for the England international, while Newcastle United are also said to be keen on him.

West Ham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Leicester City are all said to also be monitoring David Brooks who has been a long-term target for Spurs.

The report suggests that Wilson and Brooks are likely to leave the Vitality Stadium following Bournemouth’s relegation to the Championship but, with both players generating considerable interest, it remains to be seen where they will end up.

While Brooks can play out wide, I believe he is at his best in the middle of the park in-behind the striker. I rate the 23-year-old very highly but I do not see why an attacking midfielder/wide player would be a priority for us this summer. Wilson would be a terrific signing as he has proven that he can score goals in the Premier League. He can lead the line on his own if Kane needs a rest but he is also versatile enough to play in a wider role or partner Kane up front.
