Report: Spurs face uphill battle to sign highly-rated midfield talent

According to a report by The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur face an uphill battle in their quest to land Hungarian wonderkid Dominik Szoboszlai with RB Leipzig emerging as the midfielder’s most likely destination.

Szoboszlai has been turning a lot of heads with his performances for Red Bull Salzburg and the Hungarian national team over recent months.

BILD (via Sport Witness) revealed that the midfielder is on Tottenham’s transfer list for January.

However, Tottenham were already facing a major battle to land the 20-year-old, with 90min.com reporting last month that the North Londoners would have to compete with a number of Premier League clubs along with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the midfielder’s signature.

The Mirror now report that with Szoboszlai making his desire to leave the Austrian side clear, Leipzig will be made aware of the situation.

Since the Bundesliga side are Salzburg’s sister club, with both under the ownership of Red Bull, it is suggested that are likely to have the greatest pulling power.

The report suggests that Spurs will have their work cut out if they are to beat Julian Nagelsmann’s side to Szoboszlai’s signature.
