Report: Spurs facing competition from almost a dozen clubs for 18-year-old

Israeli news outlet ONE have revealed that the race for Tottenham target Oscar Gloukh is heating up, with clubs from England, Spain, France, Portugal, Germany and the Netherlands alleged to have shown interest in the wonderkid.

Gloukh, who broke into Maccabi Tel Aviv’s first-team last season, has been one of the stand-out players in Israel in 2022/23, with six goals and six assists to his name across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

The attacking midfielder was mooted as a target for Spurs as early as last summer when The Sunday Mirror (10/7; page 74) claimed that Antonio Conte’s men had made contact regarding a deal for the 18-year-old.

While reporting on Benfica’s pursuit of the Tel Aviv starlet, the print edition of Record (13/01.23 as relayed by Sport Witness), claimed last week that the Portuguese giants faced competition from Spurs for the youngster.

ONE have now named Tottenham as one of eleven clubs eyeing a move for Gloukh this transfer window.

The report alleges that apart from the Lilywhites, the likes of Barcelona, AS Roma, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, Real Sociedad, Marseille, Monaco and Benfica are all monitoring the Israeli international.

It is explained that although the teenager only recently signed a contract extension until 2025, Tel Aviv are open to selling him for a sufficiently ‘high amount’.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Gloukh has been scouted by a whole host of clubs around Europe, including Spurs. I suspect that the teenager would want to move to a Dutch or Portuguese club so that he would have regular game time under his belt and have a platform to showcase his talent to the big hitters in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.
