Report: Spurs fans are not flavour of the month with Christian Eriksen

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen has been left frustrated by the treatment he has received from some Spurs fans.

Eriksen’s contract with Tottenham runs out at the end of the current season and he has been linked heavily with a move to Inter Milan this month (Gazzetta dello Sport).

The Dane was jeered by some pockets of the home support during Saturday’s defeat to Liverpool when he was replaced on the 69th minute by Giovani Lo Celso.

Mourinho hinted on Monday that Eriksen’s below-par performances for Tottenham are a result of his contract situation but still decided to name him in the starting eleven for yesterday’s FA Cup third round replay win against Middlesbrough (AS).

Eriksen has struggled with form since the turn of last year with those close to the player claiming he has been frustrated with how he is being treated by the supporters.

He has managed just three goals and three assists in 25 appearances for Spurs in all competitions this season (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

While the criticism that has been directed towards Eriksen is understandable given his poor form, he certainly doesn’t deserve to be booed or abused by his own fans after all that he has done for the club. I genuinely believe that the midfielder has just hit a rough patch of form that he isn’t able to recover from. I do not agree with suggestions that he doesn’t care or that he is not trying hard enough.
