Report: Spurs fans clashed in stands over Nuno’s future in Man Utd defeat

According to Alex Kay-Jelski of The Athletic, a number of Tottenham fans had to be ‘restrained by security guards’ during the club’s defeat to Manchester United, after rowing over the future of under-pressure manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Tottenham received yet another blow to what has been a miserable season so far, suffering their fifth Premier League defeat of the campaign in a 3-0 defeat to United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

After a fairly promising opening half, the visitors went ahead five minutes before the interval through a Cristiano Ronaldo volley before further goals from Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford finished off a wretched evening for Spurs.

There is allegedly still a split between the club’s fan base, where it has been reported that scuffles broke out during the defeat over the Portuguese coach’s future.

The Telegraph have now reported that Nuno could even face an immediate sacking from his North London job.

A section of supporters in the stadium’s East Stand had to be pulled apart by security during proceedings as they watched their team get picked apart by a side that suffered a 5-0 defeat to their arch-rivals the week prior.

Tensions in the stands were especially high after Nuno was earlier the subject of a chorus of boos from every corner of the ground when he substituted Lucas Moura for Steven Bergwijn shortly after the second-half whistle.

It was yet another match to forget for Spurs and Nuno, and it was the most toxic atmosphere the club has experienced for a while.

The wheels look like they have completely gone both on and off the field, while his inevitable sacking is just being prolonged at this rate.
