Report: Spurs fans’ hopes of a January deal for Philippe Coutinho could be over

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur were interested in a late transfer move for ex-Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho this summer.

The Mirror claim that the only reason Spurs pulled out of talks with Barcelona was due to an extremely high price tag attached to the Brazilian.

Barca apparently wanted a £30m loan fee for one season, along with the player’s £10m a year wages.

You can see why Spurs decided against such a deal, but the door could be shutting on any future dealings with Barca over Coutinho.

The Standard now claim that the Spanish giants are negotiating a loan move with Bayern Munich, after offering him to a number of Premier League clubs before the window shut.

RAC1 add that getting rid of Coutinho is a key part of Barca’s plan to re-seign Neymar from PSG, and they claim that Barcelona sources have confirmed talks with Bayern over the phone to the radio station.
