Report: Spurs favourites to complete £20m deal for Championship attacker

Tottenham Hotspur are now the outright favourites to land Queens Park Rangers star Eberechi Eze when the transfer window opens in the summer, according to a report in the Sun.

The 21-year-old broke into the QPR side back in 2017 and is now a key first-team star for the club.

Eze’s performances in the Championship this season have seen many people stand up and take notice of him and he has since been tipped for a big future in the game.

The young attacker, who has managed twelve goals and eight assists so far this season (transfermarkt), has been linked with a move to Spurs for several months.

The Sun now report that Tottenham scout Brian Carey saw Eze in action for QPR in their 3-1 win over Preston two weeks ago.

He is said to have been sufficiently impressed by the youngster’s performance and the Lilywhites are expected to swoop for him in the summer.

The report claims that Rangers academy graduate could end up costing around £20 million.

£20 million is no doubt a steep price for someone who is unproven in the Premier League but that seems to be the going rate these days for young talents. Eze is one of those players who could easily be worth thrice that price in a couple of years time. I hope we don’t miss out on him and come to regret it as we have with the likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison.
