Report: Spurs favourites to sign 24-year-old whose agent was seen at NLD

TEAMtalk have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have now moved into pole position to snap up Jota ahead of the January transfer window.

The report states that Ange Postecoglou is keen to add a couple of attacking reinforcements to his squad in January.

The Tottenham head coach is alleged to be ‘pushing’ for a reunion with Jota, who has been frozen out at Al-Ittihad due to the Saudi club being over the limit of overseas players allowed in their domestic competition.

Jota’s agents were spotted at Spurs game recently

It is explained that agents representing the Portuguese star are working hard to find their client a new club and that they have been seen in a number of Tottenham’s games this season, including at the North London Derby two weeks ago.

TEAMtalk add that Everton and Brentford also have their eye on the 24-year-old but as things stand, it is Spurs who look favourites to win the race for Jota’s signature.

Finally, the publication asserts that Al Itihad are looking for a fee of around £20m for the winger.

Given the long-term injuries to Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon and the uncertainty over Brennan Johnson’s fitness, I would not be surprised if Ange has indeed decided to prioritise additions in the forward line in January.
