Report: Spurs fighting five other PL clubs for Turkish international

Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new midfielder has led them to Turkey, with Fenerbahce’s Ismail Yuksek now considered a target for the Lilywhites. However, Premier League rivals Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are also among those interested.

Ange Postecoglou appears to be very happy with the options of Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr, and Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park this season. And rightly so, the trio have been in great form all year.

However, the involvement, or lack thereof for Oliver Skipp, and a drop down the pecking order for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, has suggested that Postecoglou would like to upgrade his midfield roster this summer.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Conor Gallagher, with the Chelsea midfielder reportedly set to be sacrificed as the Blues look to keep Financial Fair Play sanctions at bay (Football Insider).

Naturally, the thought of the 24-year-old moving across London to a fierce rival is an odd one, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs could do business.

Spurs want Fenerbahce midfielder

So, Tottenham are looking at other options, and that’s where Ismail Yuksek comes in. According to HITC, Spurs are among one of many Premier League clubs looking at the Turkish star, as well as interest coming from Germany and Italy.

It is thought Yuksek has “a host of Premier League admirers” including Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Wolves, and Bournemouth. However, a move to the Bundesliga or Serie A is considered to be “more likely at this stage.”

Tottenham are believed to be “keeping tabs” on the 25-year-old. Fenerbahce turned down a £9.5m offer from Lyon in January (Le Progres), but it remains to be seen whether they will be able to resist fresh offers in the summer.

Yuksek has been smashing it in the Turkish Super Lig, but the Premier League is a different ball game. I would rather us pay more and go for Gallagher, but Yuksek is definitely a viable option if that doesn’t work out.
