Report: Spurs given new hope for late midfielder deal

Tottenham Hotspur dipped into the transfer market earlier this month when Moussa Sissoko picked up a nasty injury against Southampton on New Years Day.

Levy and Mourinho brought in Gedson Fernandes from Benfica on an 18-month loan with an option to buy to fill the hole left by the Frenchman.

However, there have also been reports linking the Lilywhites with a move for ex-Liverpool central midfielder Emre Can.

The Daily Star have claimed that Can’s potential move to Germany has stumbled after talks between Juventus and Borussia Dortmund hit a bump. Juve apparently want at least £21m for the midfield man (Sky Sports).

Corriere dello Sport say that Juve want €30m for Can, but Dortmund only offered $20-22m. They suggest that Spurs and even Barcelona may now reappear for a potential €25m deal.

The Star go on to say that Everton and Spurs have been given new hope to sign the player this month.

Spurs were linked with a £26m move to beat Everton and Man United to Can earlier this week by TuttoJuve.

Spurs Web Opinion:

The only thing I want to see coming through those Hotspur Way doors in the next 24 hours is a new striker. That is what Spurs need above all else.
