Report: Spurs had €30m bid for star turned down but may have a chance in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to reinforce their midfield come the summer transfer window, as they have gone over a year without signing a player.

In that time, the North London club have also waved goodbye to fan favourite Mousa Dembele, leaving a hefty hole in the Spurs engine room.

Journalist Ciro Venerato claimed this week that Spurs were interested in signing Napoli’s Amadou Diawara in the past year, and even had a 30 million Euro bid turned down for the defensive midfield man (Calcio Napoli).

It is unclear whether this bid came in last summer’s transfer window or in January 2019.

Diawara has not featured regularly for the Naples club, earning only 23 starts over the past three seasons, with claims that he is unhappy with the formation played by the manager.

The report suggests that despite the 30m bid being turned down, it may be enough to secure his signature come this summer.
