Report: Spurs had injury concerns about key player going into Chelsea clash

The Telegraph have revealed that there were some doubts about James Maddison’s involvement against Chelsea as the midfielder was already carrying an injury ahead of the game.

Tottenham now face the prospect of being without several of their key players for their trip to Wolves on Saturday after a couple of injuries and red cards in the London derby.

One of those was Maddison, who came off with an ankle problem towards the end of the first half.

It was revealed by Charlie Eccleshare in The Athletic’s The View from The Lane podcast a couple of days ago that the attacking midfielder had been playing through pain for much of the season and had been carrying various niggles into matches.

Doubts over Maddison fitness ahead of Chelsea

If The Telegraph’s latest update is to be believed, there were some doubts at Spurs whether Maddison would be involved in the clash against Chelsea.

There were said to be some question marks about his fitness before the England international was finally passed fit enough to start against the Blues

I do not think Postecoglou would have risked Maddison against Chelsea if he had a serious issue or if he felt there was a chance that the midfielder would aggravate the problem he had.
