Report: Spurs handed fresh chance to sign Barca star

Tottenham Hotspur have failed to sign a single new player in well over a year, with their last signing coming in the form of Lucas Moura from PSG back in January 2018.

However, Spurs may look to pull off the acquisition of another highly-rated winger this summer, as a report by ESPN states the London club have a fresh chance to sign Malcom.

ESPN says that Malcom is keen to leave the club after just one season in Spain, following his move from French side Bordeaux (Guardian).

Malcom has scored just four goals this season for the Spanish giants, which has been largely down to his lack of game time.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with the winger over the past year (Sun), and Malcom will also fall nicely into Spurs’ price range if reports are to be believed.

ESPN claim Barca will accept anything in the region of the £36.5m they paid for the player, and his wages are reportedly only £90,000 a week (totalsportek).

Spurs Web Opinion:

If Tottenham can secure Malcom for something in the region of £30m, we at Spurs Web believe that would represent a great piece of business from the club. Not only has Malcom had a brief chance to experience one of the very top clubs in European football, but he is also still just 21-years-old and has bags of potential. It would be up there with the Lucas Moura deal in terms of ability and experience for a relatively affordable price and could provide great support for the likes of Son and Moura on the wings through next season.
