Report: Spurs have ‘already been looking’ at Burnley star this summer

90Min have reported that Tottenham have already been looking at a number of centre-back targets this summer, including Burnley’s James Tarkowski.

The report claims that Spurs want to sign at least one, but ideally two, new central defenders in this window, with Tarkowski, Joachim Andersen and Takehiro Tomiyasu being a few current targets.

It is also said that Tottenham are interested in Wolves defender, Conor Coady, after Nuno Espirito Santo asked the North London club to reunite him with the England centre-half.

Tarkowski crops up again later in the report when 90Min claim that Wolves are also looking for defensive reinforcements this summer, with the Burnley man being an option.

Tarkowski has performed admirably under Sean Dyche in recent years, playing 39 games across all competitions for Burnley last time out (TransferMarkt). He is currently contracted until 2022.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tarkowski is a great defender, however, the difference in styles between Spurs wanting to play out from the back and Sean Dyche’s no-nonsense defending may be difficult for him. There is no telling whether he would be able to cope with the ball at his feet.
