Report: Spurs have ‘asked for information’ about Italian international during meeting

Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Tottenham have asked AS Roma about the availability of Nicolo Zaniolo.

After the captures of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma, it seems like Tottenham are now prioritising making an attacking addition.

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare revealed on Thursday that Spurs want to bring an attacker in before selling Steven Bergwijn to Ajax.

The likes of Richarlison (Daily Mail), Raphinha (Gianluigi Longari), Gabriel Jesus (Mirror) and even Lautaro Martinez (Alfredo Pedulla) have all been linked with a move to the North London club over recent weeks.

Di Marzio has now revealed that Zaniolo is also on Tottenham’s radar this widow.

The journalist explained that Spurs’ managing director of Fabio Paratici met with representatives from AS Roma in Milan on Thursday.

He claimed that Zaniolo was discussed by the two clubs during the meeting, with Paratici said to have been tracking the 22-year-old since his days at Juventus.

Di Marzio added, however, that Spurs’ managing director of football only sought information about the winger and no negotiations took place over a possible move to the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Zaniolo departing Roma appears to be on the cards, given that he only has two years left to run on his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

A move to Spurs cannot be ruled out, given that both Conte and Paratici appear to be fans of the player.

However, if the 22-year-old was at the top of Conte’s wishlist, we likely would have waited this long to enquire about his availability. It seems like the likes of Richarlison and Raphinha are preferred by Spurs to the Roma star.
