FC Inter News have reported that Manchester City are now keen on alleged Tottenham target, Alessandro Bastoni, with Spurs having been ‘deflected’ by Inter Milan.
The report claims that Man City see Bastoni as the ‘ideal profile’ for Pep Guardiola and his style of football and are thus taking a close look at the Italian central defender.
Unfortunately, the report also appears to ‘nip in the bud’ any idea of Tottenham being close to moving for Bastoni, claiming that the Lilywhites have been ‘deflected’ from the race. Spurs have apparently not come back in for the defender after being rejected in the summer.
It is also said that Tottenham are not even thinking of a move for Bastoni due to Conte’s uncertain future in North London.
This comes days after Tuttosport (25/11/12 as relayed by FCInterNews and Sport Witness) reported that Milan could U-turn and sell Bastoni to Spurs in January if a substantial offer arrives. The report added that Spurs will ‘try again’ for the Italian in 2023.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I do agree that Tottenham would never spend huge amounts of money unless Conte was committed to staying, but I also think that decision will be made before the January transfer window. The hierarchy will be having talks with Conte over the World Cup and I expect him to stay.
