Report: Spurs have been ‘sending signals’ to 24-year-old about signing him

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Atalanta star, Timothy Castagne, according to the latest reports from Italy.

A new right-back is allegedly high on Jose Mourinho’s list of priorities this summer (Bild), with Serge Aurier currently the only recognisable player in this position after Walker-Peters was loaned out.

Tottenham have been linked with several names over the past few weeks including Norwich City’s Max Aarons (Football Insider), PSG’s Thomas Meunier (90 Min) and Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi (Bladi.net).

Castagne, who has had a fine season for Atalanta, is the latest player said to be on the club’s radar. TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Tottenham have been sending signals to the Belgian international for a long time and could make a move for him this summer.

The report asserts that the 24-year-old is expected to leave Atalanta at the end of the season, however, it does not reveal how much the Serie A club would want for Castagne, who has also been linked with a move to Leicester City (Sport/Foot via Sport Witness).

Spurs Web Opinion

The Max Aarons deal sounds like a no-brainer to me as he just looks like a Tottenham player. I believe he has the highest ceiling out of the right-backs we’ve been linked with and is unlikely to be too expensive. I would prefer Aarons over Hakimi even if we had a genuine shot at singing the Real Madrid star.
