Report: Spurs have begun talks for £50m rated midfielder

The speculation linking Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare with a move to Spurs is growing by the day.

Le 10 Sport reported on Monday that Tottenham were ready to submit an offer for the defensive midfielder in the January transfer window and were hopeful of landing the youngster due to Mourinho’s close relationship with Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos.

A report in The Sun has claimed that Spurs have already begun talks with Lille for Soumare and are determined to push the deal through next month.

The report suggests that Mourinho is keen to bolster his central midfield options and has apparently identified the 20-year-old as his primary target.

It is also asserted that Manchester United and Napoli have also held discussions regarding Soumare with Lille in the past few weeks.

The Ligue 1 club will reportedly demand between £40 and £50 million for the youngster in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have been extremely impressed with Soumare’s displays in the Champions League this season and I believe he has the potential to evolve into a top Premier League midfielder. However, there are other areas of the team that have to take priority over defensive midfield in January as we are fairly well stocked in the position.
