Report: Spurs have ‘carefully observed’ 22-year-old striker at World Cup

Todofichajes have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Lille striker Jonathan David.

David first rose to notoriety thanks to the prolific 2019–20 season he had at Gent, which earned the centre-forward a move to Lille that summer.

The 22-year-old has continued banging in goals with regularity since his switch to France and has been in excellent form this season, having scored nine goals and provided three assists in his 15 Ligue 1 appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

David has not found the back of the net in Canada’s two matches at the World Cup so far, with the North American side crashing out of the tournament after defeats to Belgium and Croatia.

Todofichajes state that scouts from Tottenham have ‘carefully observed’ the striker in the two matches in Qatar.

It is alleged that Antonio Conte is keen on adding to his forward line despite the options he has at his disposal, perhaps due to a potential concern that Harry Kane’s days at the club might be numbered.

The publication asserts that David is ‘one of the options’ on the North London club’s radar.

Another centre-forward is arguably the last thing that Tottenham need in January, with Richarlison more than capable of covering for Kane.  I believe Conte will want a winger who is good at carrying the ball as a potential backup for Kulusevski as we really missed the penetration that the Swede provides when he was out injured.
