Report: Spurs have contacted Serie A club about £30m-rated centre-back

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur have now reached out to Torino about a deal for centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno.

The report says that Spurs are on the lookout for reinforcements at the back and have identified Buongiorno as a target.

The North London club have allegedly ‘started initial contacts’ in order to understand the potential cost of an operation to sign the 24-year-old.

Spurs face competition for Alessandro Buongiorno

Calciomercato state that the upcoming window looks likely to be the one where Buongiorno says his goodbyes to Torino, having come close to joining Atalanta last summer.

The report claims that AC Milan and Napoli have also shown strong interest in acquiring the Italy international’s services this summer.

It is alleged that it would take an offer of around €35m (£30m) to get the centre-back out of the Olympic Grande Stadium after Torino turned down an offer of €25m (£21.4m) plus Leo Ostigard from Napoli for the player in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Buongiorno is left-footed, would be relatively inexpensive and can also play at left-back if needed. So one can understand why Tottenham are keeping a close eye on the Torino star.

However, if Spurs are going to raid Serie A for a versatile young defender this summer, one would expect it to be Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.
