Report: Spurs have decision to make as U23s sent home due to COVID outbreak

Football.London have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur now have to make a decision on whether to close down the academy section of Hotspur Way after another COVID outbreak.

The first-team section of the club’s training ground was closed down last week after an outbreak of the virus among Antonio Conte’s squad.

The Telegraph revealed today that while players were due to return to training on Monday, the club suffered another blow with the news that an additional first-team member had tested positive.

The report also stated there had been a substantial outbreak of COVID among Tottenham’s Under-23 squad.

Football.London have now also confirmed that information, revealing that the club have sent the Under-23s home following the positive tests.

The report explains that despite the positive test from one additional first-team member, the North London club are hopeful they can open the first-team areas of Hotspur Way over the coming days.

However, the club are expected to make an assessment as to whether the academy side of the training complex can remain open.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would expect Spurs to err on the side of caution and close down the academy section of Hotspur Way to avoid any risk of further spread. The last thing the club would want is for the virus to spread again among the first-team squad and potentially risk another postponement.
