Report: Spurs have discussed replacing Conte with 31-year-old for this season

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham have already held internal discussions about sacking Antonio Conte immediately and putting Ryan Mason in charge on an interim basis.

The report explains that Conte’s reign as Tottenham manager was already set to come to an end in the summer, with the North London club allegedly exploring alternatives for the past few weeks.

However, following his sensational outburst at the weekend, it is said that the Spurs hierarchy are considering bringing his departure forward by two months.

The club are now thought to be discussing whether to end Conte’s tenure during the international break rather than putting their hopes of finishing in the top four in the hands of a coach who has slaughtered his players publicly.

The publication quotes one source as saying “it’s over” for Conte and that there is “surely no way” that the former Inter Milan boss survives this.

Football Insider add that Tottenham have discussed handing the reins to Ryan Mason until the end of the season, with many at the club regarding the 31-year-old as a future manager.

Anyone who does not think that Conte was trying to get sacked by making those comments on Saturday, is incredibly naive.

The Italian has essentially given the club no choice but to part ways with him and it would certainly not send the right message if the club decide to leave him in charge for even one more match.
