Report: Spurs have ended interest in manager candidate despite heavy links

In a report from ESPN, it has been claimed that Spurs have now ended their interest in Mauricio Pochettino despite heavy links in recent weeks.

The report claims that Spurs are now in talks with Antonio Conte as they were forced to look for other candidates once their Pochettino plans did not pan out.

ESPN sources reportedly told the outlet that the Argentine did not show any ‘firm willingness’ to leave PSG this summer and is instead discussing transfer targets. PSG also recently triggered a one-year extension to his contract.

Alasdair Gold reported that Spurs pushed hard to re-sign Pochettino but PSG wanted to keep him so it now looks likely that Conte will be the next Tottenham manager.

Gold also claimed that Pochettino wanted to leave PSG and return to Spurs, even informing the Paris-based club of such desires.

However, if ESPN are to be believed, the chances of Pochettino returning to North London are now over.
