Report: Spurs have enquired about availability of centre-back in recent weeks

According to La Nazione, Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in signing Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic this summer.

Japhet Tanganga has been heavily linked with a potential move to AC Milan (CalcioMercatoWeb.it), while Joe Rodon is reportedly set to join Rennes on loan with an option to buy this weekend (Fabrizio Romano).

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold suggested this week that Spurs are likely to bring in a right-sided centre-back this summer if both Rodon and Tanganga depart.

If La Nazione’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have enquired about the availability of Milenkovic over recent weeks.

The report asserts that apart from Conte’s men, Inter Milan and Juventus have also expressed interest in signing the Serbian international.

Milenkovic has just 12 months left on his contract at the Artemio Franchi Stadium (Transfermarkt) and Fiorentina are thought to be keen on keeping him at the club.

The report explains that the Viola are prepared to offer the defender a new deal and are expected to meet with his agent on August 2.

La Nazione add that Milenkovic is still undecided about his future and, as things stand, the chances of the 24-year-old departing the Serie A club are at around 50 per cent.

Spurs Web Opinion

Milenkovic is accustomed to playing in a back three at Fiorentina and would be a suitable cover for Cristian Romero in the right centre-back role.

Paratici and Conte would know the 24-year-old’s qualities well and his contract situation means he will be relatively cheap. So, I can see this rumour having some legs.
