Report: Spurs have financial advantage in race for midfielder – Could sign him ‘easily’

It has been reported that Spurs have a financial advantage over some of their rivals in the race for out-of-favour Barcelona player, Miralem Pjanić.

Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this week that Barcelona were willing to let the midfielder leave on a free transfer in order to remove his wages from their bill (via Sport Witness).

AS also claimed that Tottenham had already been in contact over a possible deal, with Fabio Paratici knowing the player well, although Pjanic himself would prefer a move back to Italy (via Sport Witness).

TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Pjanic currently earns €7.5m net per year and Barcelona are willing to sell him or loan him out, although he wants to move back to Juventus.

However, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan will reportedly face competition from Premier League clubs like Spurs who could ‘easily’ sign him without asking him to lower his wage demands. It is said that his future could be decided in just a matter of days.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This would be one to avoid for me. An ageing player who might not be up to the pace of the Premier League and has also not been at his best during recent seasons. I would much rather spend money on younger up-and-coming talents.
