Report: Spurs have ‘formally offered’ head coach position to ex-Liverpool boss

Football Transfers have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have now formally offered Brendan Rodgers the chance to become their next head coach.

The report claims that following the collapse of Tottenham’s pursuit of Arne Slot, the North London club have now turned its attention to Rodgers.

The 50-year-old has been out of work since parting ways with Leicester City back in April after the Foxes struggled for much of the campaign. Despite the way things ended for Rodgers at the King Power Stadium, he is now said to have emerged as a target for Tottenham.

The publication adds that even though Spurs have offered the Northern Irishman the position, they are keeping a low profile and trying to keep the development away from the public eye in order to avoid any further embarrassment.

Football Transfers add that while Daniel Levy does not favour a move for Rodgers, the former Liverpool boss has the support of the rest of the club’s board and there is still a possibility he could reject the job.

The report adds that should the 50-year-old snub Tottenham’s approach, Graham Potter and Luis Enrique could become the Lilywhites’ top targets.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs fans should take this update with a pinch of salt as there was nothing to suggest that Rodgers was one of the top candidates on the club’s wishlist prior to the club’s move for Arne Slot.

In fact, it has been made pretty clear over the last few weeks that the likes of Ruben Amorim and Luis Enrique were the other candidates that the North Londoners had spoken to.
