Report: Spurs have held ‘rough talks’ over re-signing a former player this month

Tottenham Hotspur had a number of heroes in the 2018/19 campaign, but few were more unexpected that the Spaniard Fernando Llorente.

Rarely used by Mauricio Pochettino in place of the incredible Harry Kane, Llorente was reduced to a bench warmer throughout the initial season of his Spurs career.

While the centre forward played 31 games in his first year at the club, the vast majority involved him coming off the bench late on. Of his Premier League appearances in the 2017/18 season, only once did he play more than 30 minutes (Transfer Market).

However, last season, in the absence of Kane, Llorente stepped up and helped to guide Spurs to a Champions League final with his goals against Borussia Dortmund and Man City, as well as his knockdown to Dele Alli in Moura’s third goal in Amsterdam.

Now at Napoli after his Spurs contract ran out, it has been reported that Tottenham have held ‘rough talks’ over re-signing him (Area Napoli).

Spurs Web Opinion:

While normally I would sigh at something like this, Spurs need to bring in someone, anyone! I also believe that someone like Llorente would thrive far more under Mourinho than Pochettino.
