Report: Spurs have held three rounds of talks with potential new manager

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have held three rounds of talks with Roberto Martinez about taking over at the club.

Martinez’s Belgium go into this summer’s European Championship as one of the favourites but the Spaniard has been linked with a return to club football after the tournament.

Previous reports indicated that the former Everton boss was pushing hard for the Tottenham job and that his enthusiasm for the role has impressed the North London club’s hierarchy.

However, Alasdair Gold has said (on his YouTube channel) that while Tottenham do admire the 47-year-old for his style of play, he is not one of the candidates they are considering for the role at the moment.

Football Insider have now contradicted that claim, insisting that Martinez very much remains on the club’s shortlist.

The report reveals that Spurs had already held two meetings with the Belgium boss during the season and held another round of talks over the last few days.

The Spanish coach is said to be on a three-man shortlist presented to the Spurs board and they are now weighing up whether to offer him the job.
