Report: Spurs have ‘jumped ahead of other suitors’ in race for PL attacker

London World have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now leading the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha ahead of the summer transfer window.

Zaha’s current deal at Selhurst Park runs out in the summer and the report claims that Spurs are now ‘increasingly confident’ of securing the attacker’s signature on a free transfer.

It is alleged that the Palace star is yet to make up his mind on his future and is torn between the prospect of staying with the Eagles and retiring as one of the club’s biggest legends or signing for a Champions League club.

The report adds that Patrick Vieira’s men have concerns about increasing his £130,000-a-week-wages as the player is already their highest-paid player by a long distance, but they are prepared to offer him a long-term deal.

London World state that Spurs, AS Roma and Manchester United have made contact with Zaha’s representatives over a summer move but the Lilywhites have now ‘jumped ahead of other suitors’ in the race for the Ivorian.

The report also suggests that a move across London to Spurs would be more appealing to the 30-year-old since he would not have to completely change his lifestyle.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have no doubt that Conte (if he stays at Spurs) will want to sign another attacker who is effective at beating his man in one vs one situations.

Zaha and Allan Saint-Maximin are the two obvious candidates and the fact that the former could be available for free, would make him particularly appealing to Spurs.
