Report: Spurs have lowered their demands for defender amidst negotiations

Tottenham Hotspur could be set for plenty of activity in the transfer market this summer with plenty of change to the first-team squad as Ange Postecoglou continues to put his stamp on the North Londoners.

AC Milan remain keen on a move for Emerson Royal

The print edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now prepared to lower their asking price for Emerson Royal as they continue talks with AC Milan over a deal.

The report says that signing a right-back is one of Milan’s priorities this summer, with Emerson being at the top of the club’s wishlist.

It is revealed that the Serie A side’s chief scout Geoffrey Moncada recently went to London to hold talks with Tottenham over a deal for the Brazilian.

The outlet claims that Spurs initially demanded €30m (£25.3m) when Milan first approached them for talks but since then, the North London club ‘have been accepting to bring that price down’.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported last week that the full-back is also generating interest from Villarreal.

The parties are now said to be edging closer, with the Rossoneri not wanting to pay more than €20m (£16.9) for Emerson, with €18m (£15.2m) said to be their ‘ideal’ price.

Finally, the publication adds that the former Barcelona defender is keen on making the switch to San Siro as he is desperate to play regularly after warming the bench at Tottenham for much of last season.

Emerson made 24 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham last season, scoring one goal (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the various reports over recent weeks, it sounds like AC Milan and Spurs may not be that far away from finalising an agreement over Emerson.

It is looking increasingly likely that the Brazilian will be one of the first players out of the door at Hotspur Way this summer.

With the way that Postecoglou wishes to operate with inverted wingers and Pedro Porro having established himself as first choice, Emerson would be more suited to AC Milan’s style of football.
