Report: Spurs have made an opening offer for attacker as first January move

Corriere della Sera have revealed that Tottenham have now made an initial loan offer for Atalanta midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi.

The speculation linking Malinovskyi with a move to Spurs has continued to persist since the summer transfer window and the rumours have intensified over recent weeks.

CalcioMercato revealed a couple of days ago that Atalanta have taken up the option to extend the 29-year-old’s contract, which was initially set to run out next summer.

The report stated that the Ukrainian is keen to leave and dreams of a move to Tottenham after the transfer fell through during the summer transfer window.

The publication explained that Spurs had been joined in the race for the midfielder’s signature by London rivals West Ham United.

This information has now been backed up by Corriere della Sera, who state that the Lilywhites and the Hammers are battling it out for Malinovskyi’s signature.

The report reveals that Antonio Conte’s men have now launched a loan offer for the attacking midfielder with an option to buy, which would turn into an obligation if certain conditions are met.

Atalanta will likely want a permanent sale rather than a loan with a conditional obligation to buy. They would also be wary that Malinovskyi is likely to be a bit-part player at Spurs. So, any conditional agreement based on the number of appearances is unlikely to be met.
