Report: Spurs have ‘never taken their eyes off’ 24-year-old midfielder

Calciomercato have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur continue to hold a concrete interest in Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie ahead of the January transfer window.

McKennie has been linked with a move to Spurs for almost a year, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting soon after Antonio Conte arrived at the North London club that the Italian was a fan of the Juventus star.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move to Spurs during the summer transfer window as well, with 90 min claiming in July that the North London club were contemplating moving for the attacking midfielder.

It was Fabio Paratici who took McKennie to Juventus from Schalke back in 2020, and if Calciomercato’s latest update is to be believed, the Tottenham managing director of football could look to reunite with the USA international at Spurs.

The report explains that the midfielder might be deemed surplus to requirements at the Allianz stadium, having failed to impress either under Andrea Pirlo or Massimiliano Allegri.

Calciomercato state that Spurs have ‘never taken their eyes off’ McKennie and could took towards Turin once again to reinforce their midfield following their capture of Rodrigo Bentancur in January of this year.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was surprised that Tottenham did not explore a move for McKennie in the summer since reports suggest that both Conte and Paratici are fans of the 24-year-old. If Conte is going to deploy a 3-5-2 more often, there is no doubt that we need one more attack-minded midfielder of the Juve star’s profile.
