Report: Spurs have not completely ruled out early candidate to replace Jose Mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur are still considering other managerial targets despite having held talks with Nuno Espirito Santo, according to ESPN.

The report claims that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has still not been completely ruled out of the running while Brighton’s Graham Potter is also still on the shortlist.

Ten Hag was said to have been one of Tottenham’s original candidates to replace Jose Mourinho and were looking to hold further talks with the Dutchman after a move for Antonio Conte fell through (The Mirror).

The 51-year-old signed a one-year contract extension with the Eredivisie champions at the end of April.

Spurs were said to have been left impressed with the style of play which Ajax displayed during the two legs of the Champions League semi-final in 2019.

ESPN have reported that while Fabio Paratici is said to be keen on appointing Espirito Santo, he is yet to be offered the job.

Ten Hag fits the criteria Daniel Levy outlined to supporters in a much more rounded way than what Espirito Santo can offer. He has a proven record at the Dutch giants of promoting young talent, but also adopts an exciting style of play with a focus on pressing the opponent.
