Report: Spurs have not progressed talks further with 53-year-old manager

Tottenham Hotspur have already met with Luis Enrique as part of their search for a new head coach, however they have not progressed their talks further, according to 90min.

Tottenham are currently in day 48 of their managerial search after the club decided to part ways with Antonio Conte in the wake of his frank and honest assessment of his squad after they threw away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 at Southampton in the Premier League fixture at St Mary’s in late March.

Enrique has been out of work since leaving his role as Spain national team coach after the World Cup last winter with his side having been knocked out of the competition at the round of 16 stage to Morocco.

The former Barcelona midfielder had also held face-to-face talks with Chelsea over their managerial vacancy which is now likely to be filled by former Tottenham favourite Mauricio Pochettino (Evening Standard).

It was reported yesterday evening that Tottenham have ended their interest in Julian Nagelsmann and are looking elsewhere for their next appointment.

Ryan Mason was handed the responsibility for the last six matches of the campaign after Cristian Stellini was given his marching orders following the 6-1 thrashing at Newcastle United.

At this stage, Tottenham fans are likely to be left underwhelmed by their next managerial appointment which appears to be dragging on and on, especially until a new sporting director is put in place.

The search after Jose Mourinho’s sacking took 72 days before deciding to hire Nuno Espirito Santo, this could also prove to be yet another disastrous chapter for Spurs with Pochettino and Nagelsmann out of the picture.
