Report: Spurs have now expressed an interest in winger valued at £43m

According to a report in the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have now expressed an interest in signing Sassuolo winger, Domenico Berardi.

Berardi has been frightening defences in the Serie A over the past few years and has now transferred that form into international football, playing a starring role for Italy in their wins over Croatia and Switzerland.

The 26-year-old, who netted 17 goals and registered 8 assists in the Serie A last season, is now said to be attracting interest from the Premier League.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Berardi could be on his way out of Sassuolo this summer but the club are said to be demanding €50m (£43m) for the wide man.

Spurs are named as one of the clubs eyeing a move for the Italy international, who is also said to be on the radars of both Leicester City and Liverpool.

While no club is said to have made an offer for Berardi yet, the report states that bids ‘could arrive shortly’.

Spurs Web Opinion

With question marks over the futures of Bale, and reports indicating that Spurs are open to listening to offers for both Lamela and Lucas, the club will likely need to sign at least one wide attacker this summer.

However, I cannot see us spending upwards of £40m on any one player unless we are able to generate some serious cash through player sales. I expect our strategy to be similar to the one we employed last summer.
