Report: Spurs have offered £8.4m-a-year contract to player who could soon be free agent

Italian journalist Rudi Galetti has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have made a contract offer to Franck Kessie amidst the midfielder’s standoff with AC Milan.

Kessie is set to run into the final six months of his contract at Milan and Antonio Conte has reportedly asked Spurs to snap up the 24-year-old.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Football Italia) revealed a few days ago that the Ivory Coast international does not intend to sign a new deal at the San Siro, with the Rossoneri’s offer falling short of the player’s demands.

The report further added that Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain were leading the race for the Milan star.

Galetti has now backed up that claim regarding Kessie’s situation at Milan, revealing there is still quite a lot of distance between the Serie A giant’s offer and the player’s demands.

The journalist further added that Tottenham and PSG have already offered a deal worth €10m-a-year (£8.4m) to the midfielder’s representatives.

Galetti also revealed that Manchester United have also entered the race for Kessie, with the Red Devils set to move ‘decisively’ for the player.

There could well be more twists and turns in the Kessie saga as it sounds like the player is likely to leave as a free agent in the summer. A lot of clubs around Europe will likely be interested in the 24-year-old should he fail to agree on a contract with Milan.

So a deal for the Ivorian will not be easy for Spurs to pull off. The North London club will be hoping that Paratici’s contacts give them the edge in the negotiations but the final decision on his next destination will likely come down to the player himself.
