Report: Spurs have offered club over £21m for highly-rated 23-year-old

Tottenham Hotspur recently welcomed their number one and captain back into the starting line-up after a long absence through injury.

Hugo Lloris burst back onto the scene with a superb performance against Man City at the weekend, but struggled throughout the game against Southampton last night.

Now 33-years-old, Spurs may soon have to turn their attention to a new long-term option between the sticks, with understudy Paulo Gazzaniga always an option.

However, a report from Turkish newspaper Gunes has now claimed that Spurs have actually bid €25m for the 23-year-old keeper from Trabzonspor, Ugurcan Cakir.

This comes just a week after Liverpool also reportedly bid for the highly-rated keeper (Sabah via Sport Witness).

Mourinho apparently wants to replace Paulo Gazzaniga with Cakir and Spurs will hold talks with Trabzonspor at the end of this season. Inter Milan and Napoli are also said to be interested.

Spurs Web Opinion:

€25m for a back-up keeper sounds like too much for me. I also believe that Lloris and Gazzaniga can do a job for another season, as spending is needed far more in other areas such as full-backs, defensive midfield, and on a new striker.
