Report: Spurs have offered player on loan to Fenerbahce before Turkish window closes

According to a report from Turkish publication Fotomac (as relayed by CNN Turk), Tottenham Hotspur have offered Fenerbahce the chance to sign Ryan Sessegnon on loan.

While the transfer window might be closed for the majority of Europe, the Turkish clubs are still allowed to operate in the market until this evening and it now looks as though Fenerbahce could be eyeing a last-minute deal for Sessegnon.

The wide man showed glimpses of quality during his loan spell at Hoffenheim last season and was handed starts by Nuno Espirito Santo in both legs of the Europa Conference League play-off against Pacos De Ferriera.

Alasdair Gold revealed in the most recent episode of the Gold and Guest talk Tottenham podcast that Nuno is a fan of the former Fulham man, having tried to sign him when he was at Wolves.

However, if Fotomac’s latest update is to be believed, it looks like the Tottenham boss may have given the green light for Sessegnon to be loaned out again this season.

The report explains that Fenerbahce are continuing to work on a season-long loan deal for the 21-year-old after being offered the chance to sign the player.

It is said that there is willingness from the Turkish club’s hierarchy to get the deal completed before the deadline, with Spurs said to be keen on ensuring the left-back gets regular game time this season so that he can continue his development.

I believe loaning Sessegnon out is the right call as the 21-year-old needs to be playing every week at this stage of his career. I cannot see him playing more than 10 games this season if he stays at Spurs even with our involvement in the Conference League.
