Report: Spurs have opened talks on part-exchange deal involving Lo Celso

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have opened preliminary talks with Sevilla over the signing of Diego Carlos, with Giovani Lo Celso going the other way.

Lo Celso, who was left out of Tottenham’s matchday squad against Chelsea on Sunday, is said to be attracting interest from Sevilla (Football.London).

The Evening Standard reported on Monday that the Argentine is one of the players Spurs are desperate to offload before the transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are thought to be in the market for a central defender, with The Daily Mail reporting last week that the North Londoners were competing with Newcastle for Carlos.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Saturday that Newcastle remain the favourites to snap up Carlos but added that Sevilla are trying to hold on to the central defender.

According to Football Insider’s latest update, the Magpies have seen a series of offers for the Brazilian knocked back by Sevilla.

However, the report explains that Spurs could have an advantage over Eddie Howe’s side in the pursuit of Carlos as they could sweeten the deal by offering Lo Celso in part exchange.

This deal could make sense for all three parties involved since Conte does not seem to rate Lo Celso highly. Carlos would likely prefer joining Spurs over a move to Newcastle given the Magpies current predicament. Tottenham’s interest in the Brazilian might also explain their willingness to let Tanganga leave (CalcioMercato).
