Report: Spurs have opened talks to sign Premier League winger

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have held preliminary talks to sign Demarai Gray from Leicester City.

Gray, who has been linked with a move to Spurs in the past (Times), has fallen behind the likes of Harvey Barnes, Ayoze Perez, and Marc Albrighton in the pecking order at Leicester.

The report suggests that Spurs are set to make another attempt to sign the 24-year-old, who has been a long-term target for the club.

It is claimed that Jose Mourinho is keen on the idea of signing Gray and has already spoken to the pacy wide man to convince him to come to Spurs.

The winger is said to be keen on completing a move to North London after being left frustrated at the lack of opportunities at the King Power Stadium of late.

Since Gray just has a year left to run on his contract, it is suggested that the Foxes will have little choice but to cash-in on him this summer.

It is alleged that the Lilywhites have continued to monitor the Leicester winger closely since having an offer turned down in 2017.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Spurs fans might be quite puzzled as to why we would go for a winger who is not able to get into the Leicester team. However, Grey has proven over the years that he can be an excellent impact substitute to bring on when the opposition are tiring. Based on various reports so far, it is clear that Mourinho wants to add one more wide player to the squad. I believe Grey will be a much more useful addition than the likes of Willian and Fraser, who we were quite heavily linked with until a few months ago.
